Community Mediation Maryland’s vision is for every Maryland citizen to have awareness of and access to an affordable, high quality community mediation service. CMM advances community mediation in Maryland through educating the public, training, networking, research and creating new centers.
What we do
Community Mediation Maryland supports the work of 17 Community Mediation Centers located throughout the state. These centers provide free mediation services to assist in resolving neighborhood, family, business, land-lord tenant, organizational, and other interpersonal conflicts. Mediations is a process through which neutral mediators assist people in conflict to discuss the situation, gain clarity about each others needs, and develop solutions that meet the needs of everyone involved.
AmeriCorps members help Community Mediation Centers increase awareness of mediation and program capacity. These challenging and rewarding positions are funded in part by AmeriCorps State and National, Community Mediation Maryland, and by the local mediation centers. Applicants taking AmeriCorps State positions may attend school or work while fulfilling their contract. Contracts are defined by a stated number of hours worked.
